Abstract

This research aims to explore the counseling role of the social worker in modifying women’s This research aims to explore the counseling role of the social worker in modifying women’s reproductive behavior within family planning units and to identify the counseling methods used in this process. It also examines the level of beneficiaries’ satisfaction with the services provided and highlights key suggestions for their development. The study sheds light on a pressing social issue that concerns both individuals and nations, namely accelerating population growth, which represents one of the most critical challenges facing the economy. This growth hinders development efforts across various sectors due to the imbalance between production and consumption rates. Such a challenge is often linked to couples’ lack of awareness regarding the risks of having many children and the negative impacts on both the family and society.

The study relied on two main tools: an interview guide directed at social workers working in family planning units, and a questionnaire administered to women attending these units. The study sample consisted of (50) women from Damanhour City in Beheira Governorate.

  The findings revealed that counseling services in health units play an effective role in raising women’s awareness and enabling them to make better decisions regarding family planning, with a generally high level of satisfaction with these services. The results showed that (74%) of participants benefited greatly from counseling sessions. The study also indicated that improving these services requires increasing the number of professional staff and adopting modern technology-based approaches in order to enhance awareness and maximize the benefits of counseling.
